Client Reviews
What households have said.
Yvonne Chong
Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur
We had been meaning to sort out our household paperwork for years. After my mother-in-law passed, we realised we had no idea where half the documents were or which ones were still current. Suraya came and spent two sessions working through everything. The book she produced is genuinely useful — my husband and I both refer to it. Not what I expected when I first called, but exactly what we needed.
April 2025 — Reference Index Build

My two sisters and I did the sibling workshop in March. It was a long day, and some of the conversations were not easy. But the facilitator kept things on track without taking sides, which was what we needed. We came out with a written plan for managing our father's bills and renewals that all three of us could live with. I had some small reservations about one section, which we flagged and adjusted before the final version. Overall it was worth it.

We have been on the annual retainer for two years now. My husband travels frequently for work and I am handling two properties plus my parents' administrative matters. Ravi has been an enormous help — not just for the quarterly index updates but for the odd filing question that comes up through the year. It is a reasonable price for what it actually covers.

I was slightly sceptical that this kind of service would tell me anything I did not already know. It told me quite a lot. Two insurance policies were lapsed, one property document was missing entirely, and I had no record of where the original birth certificates for my children were kept. The index built by Briarsteep gave us a clear picture for the first time.

We brought all three siblings together for the workshop — my brother flew in from Penang for it. It was harder than expected to agree on some things but we walked out with something written down that we could refer to. The facilitator was measured and practical. It took us a follow-up call to finalise one point after the day, but that was handled smoothly.
February 2025 — Sibling Workshop

The retainer suits our situation well. We have one property in Kepong, one in Ipoh, and my husband's mother's affairs to manage as well. Having a consistent coordinator who knows the context means I am not explaining the background every time I have a question. The quarterly update call is also useful — it forces us to actually check what has changed.

Case Studies
Three situations in more detail.
Challenge
A household in Ampang with four adult children and an elderly parent had no shared view of which documents existed, who held them, or when key renewals were due. Disputes between siblings about who was responsible had been ongoing for over a year.
Approach
Briarsteep ran the Reference Index Build first, producing a clear picture of what existed and where it was held. Once the index was in place, the family used this as the foundation for the Sibling Workshop six weeks later. Both engagements were completed within a quarter.
Outcome
The family had a printed index and a written operating arrangement within twelve weeks. Three lapsed documents were identified during the indexing and subsequently renewed by the family. The household then moved to the annual retainer. They have maintained it for 18 months.
Challenge
A professional couple in Mont Kiara managed two residential properties and worked across different cities for extended periods. Renewal notices were going to different addresses, documents were split between physical folders and several cloud storage accounts, and neither partner had a full picture.
Approach
A Reference Index Build covering both properties was completed over the standard one-month period. Briarsteep worked across physical files at the Kuala Lumpur address and digital records shared remotely. The couple then subscribed to the Long-Range Retainer for ongoing support.
Outcome
Both properties are now indexed and refreshed quarterly. One document gap identified during the initial index was resolved within three weeks with assistance from the coordinator. The couple has reported that the retainer saves them consistent time each quarter when renewal notices arrive.
Challenge
Three siblings based in different cities — Kuala Lumpur, George Town, and Johor Bahru — were managing their mother's household administrative affairs remotely after she moved into assisted living. No clear assignment of responsibilities existed and tasks were falling through.
Approach
The siblings used the Sibling Workshop as a starting point, with the sibling based in Penang joining remotely. A written operating arrangement was produced on the day that assigned specific administrative responsibilities to each sibling by category.
Outcome
The arrangement has been in use for seven months. The siblings report that the process of producing it was more valuable than they expected — not because of what was written down, but because of what was discussed. One noted that it was the first structured conversation they had about their mother's affairs since her move.
